As usual on this
site, we give you some different perspectives and possibly a
more balanced outlook with regards spirit guides.
These are beings
or entities present in other realities who are interacting
with you here to facilitate you in some way. This interaction
is via the energy forms of yourself.
The terms spirit
guides or spirit helpers is often a generic term for any
beings that are presently working with you. Some authorities
subdivide into various categories; supportive for example,
or spirit teachers (They help you learn something),
guardians (protection) or plain old guides who are the
beings trying to help you stay on a predetermined path.
There is a huge
range of forms that can be classed as spirit guides. Sometimes a
being will even choose a form or at least be seen as a form that is
acceptable to the person they are working with in terms of
their current belief systems and culture.
Some common
forms include;
-
Human
forms. These can be from any time period and from any
culture not just the one you are part of in this life time.
Nuns, priests, Native Americans, Chinese wise men (or
women), Indian gurus, African chiefs, your aunt or
grandmother and so on.
-
Angels
(and Archangels). These can be to support, guide or protect.
They are common at least with those who have a Christian
background or are from a Christian culture.
-
Nature
Spirits. Particularly for those who have a sense and respect
for nature.
-
Others.
Too many to list. Could be beings that you know from
existences you have had elsewhere. Et's for example, star
beings, Ascended Masters and so on. You can also have beings
that have no physical or defined form - they are simply pure energy.
There are
basically a huge range.
For us there are
four basic guide types with respect to their origins and why
they are with you. These are;
You could
say that there are various official and unofficial beings
who either through an organisation or as an individual are
part of a network of spirit guides that help those having
their earth life experience. These include;
-
Angels
and archangels whose job is to work with humans to help
them through the complexities of their human experience,
in supportive, guidance or protective roles.
-
Some
humans take time in spirit form working as part of the
organisation to help humans.
-
Ascended
masters and co; They help to take people into
presentations of consciousness and awareness useful for
some having the human experience.
Friends or
colleagues from your human past. As a human you can make
deep and lasting friendships and associations. Sometimes the
people connected to you in this way keep the connections even
when they pass on. This is why aunt May, or your father, or
your best friend from 10 lifetimes back can be with you as
spirit guides.
We are all
multidimensional and have had existences within other
realities and on other levels. Sometimes beings from these
other levels such as et's, star beings and so on turn up to
help you because of past associations (as friends and
relatives) or contractual
and mission agreements (colleagues, co-workers and or
teachers).
If you
decide to move beyond all your limits and all your current experience
to transform yourself and your soul to the deepest levels
possible then you must be prepared to ask openly and
unconditionally all the time for the best guides that are
qualified to help you in each particular phase. You cannot
rely on your friends or past associations in spirit as they wont have experience of these areas and will for the most part just
want you to stay either as friends or conform to past
expectations. For deep transformation this is an untenable
and contradictory position. To move beyond what you have
been, you cannot rely on those who were part of what you
have been to help you do this. Ascended masters and co
included, they are not part of an unconditional expansion they
are part of the limitation.
Most, if not all
people have spirit guides, or lets say beings in spirit
working with them. You can learn to become more aware of them
and interact with them better.
As with
everything practice is required to be successful. As these areas are often difficult to accept for most
people, then finding someone who can access that can help
you do the same is also important.
When I had my
waking experience and become directly aware of spirit beings
over the space of a week it was very disconcerting. This was
because I not only had, had no previous experience to speak of but
I had not been involved in or even very aware of these areas.
For a long time I had no one that I could talk to that could support
me during this changing time. I did go a few times to
spiritual churches and this helped up to a point - mainly as
these people are very relaxed about contacting spirit.

This is the big
question and it is very difficult to give a definitive answer
in a general sense as this depends on your belief systems,
your level of awareness and what you want from your guides and
for your life here. We would say that you can trust your guides
under certain circumstances but that you cannot rely on your
guides in all circumstances.
There are those
who say that you cannot trust any beings, this from our
experience is not true. There are also those who say that you
should trust your guides implicitly (particularly those guides that
tell us that they are Divine!!). From our experience you
would be very foolish to do this. If a guide
or any information source says that you should trust
implicitly in your guides then I would stay clear of this
information source or being.
The playing field
is not level, while it is easy for them to read your energy
field and pass you information to impress you, there are very
few people with the awareness, the accessing capability and
the detachment to do the opposite - that is read them well. Would you pass over large
sums of money to people without going into their background,
their past records, accountability, intention, level of experience
and qualifications? We would suggest you
would not. So, why then is it so easy for some people to pass their most precious item (themselves) into the hands of
beings that they cannot properly asses but take at face value?
We would say
that it is important for you to know what belief systems your guides subscribe to? What agendas are they promoting? Do
they have the experience to take you where you want to go? Do
you even know where you want to go or are you relying on these
beings to tell you this? If you are then this is a sign that
you don't have enough of yourself to know who you are. If you
don't know who you are deeply enough and securely enough then
how can you know what you really want? You cannot?
What is for your
"highest will and good" do you know? Is this the same for everyone? The
phrase "for my highest will and good" is a well used one in lightwork
where there is an assumption that if you are asking all
the time for everything to be aligned with this then everything will be fine. Sometimes it will be but often
it wont. Lets explain this in more detail.
There are a huge
range of belief systems that people live by on this planet.
There is an unspoken assumption that either guides are beyond
belief systems or that they are following the same belief
systems as the people they are guiding. If you want to grow
and to grow openly beyond beliefs then your guides to honestly
and truly be able to guide you in the highest way possible
must be completely free of beliefs to do this
properly.
Unfortunately
from our experience they have as much baggage with regards
beliefs as we do here. If your guides are not free from all
beliefs, then they are simply going to be trying to get you to
subscribe to and follow the beliefs that they hold to as they
will take these as the best (like we do).
Now for the most
part if you don't want to change then this is not a problem. As
like attracts like, so you will by and large attract the
beings that are within your range of understanding, who think
the same as you and believe in the same things as you do. So,
in this situation you will be perfectly at home.
On the other
hand many perceive spirit guides as those who should be
helping them to grow. Growth only comes about through change
and change only comes by stepping beyond your limits which is the only way to make truly authentic and groundbreaking
movements. In this instance if your guides hold to the same
limits as you then they have no experience and no
qualifications to take you anywhere better than you can
yourself, in other words they will hold you back. This is
exactly our
experience in many phases of our journey.
Lets give you a
simple example of this. If you are
now a Christian and you have an atheist guide who is there
because he was your best friend from many previous existences
where you too were atheist then how will this guide interpret
what is for your highest will and good? Will he not think that
you have gone temporarily off your path and rigorously support you to
free yourself from your Christian madness? You may think that
this cannot happen but we have worked with this sort of
situation often with clients. Lets give you some real examples
now.
Increasingly we
are coming across people with trusted guides that are not
working well. Sometimes this is an understatement. Lets give
you some examples.
One client was
having terrible problems with close relationships. Intimate
relationships rarely happened and when they did they did not
last for long. We found that in past existences she had the
pattern of attracting unsuitable partners and falling head
over heels in love with them. Having got completely lost in
this relationship it would then finish badly leaving her
distraught.
This
debilitating pattern originates at soul level and so permeates
most if not all of her existences. However in one past life as
a human where the same pattern kicked in leaving her in
despair she decided to seek out spiritual help. In this case
spiritual help turned out to be the occupants of the local
monastery.
She eventually
became a nun and worked closely with an older well respected
sister who she thought of as her adviser, helper and friend.
During this life she asked this nun to promise to help her
become more spiritual and do what ever she could to stop her
getting lost in a relationship again. And what a surprise - so
it was and still is.
So, from that
life on, she has had a very militant and dogmatic nun as a
guide, who makes sure she never gets lost in a relationship by
making sure that she never has one and if one does actually
manage to start she ensures that it finishes quickly. A
logical solution with regards this nuns beliefs as she has
sworn to celibacy, is a bride of Christ (and thinks our client
is too) and takes these things very seriously.
So, intimate
relationships are not important in her book anyway and are in
fact a hindrance to true spirituality (as her beliefs
dictate). Now this client asked for this help, so this guide
has the permission and the trust of this client through out
many lifetimes to help as she see fit, under the assumption
that as a senior nun she has more idea of what is best for her
"highest will and good" than the client does.
Heed this
example. This client could feel that she had someone she
trusted working with her. She was very shocked when we
explained this situation as she was subscribing to the
belief (as most of you do) that guides will always be doing
what is right for you. This situation could
have gone on for ever. This is why we say - what beliefs
do your guides have? What qualifications do they have to help
you in the way that you need? Under what circumstances did you
ask for this help and have these circumstances changed?
Another Client
came for a session because she was sick of the relationship
challenges she was experiencing with her daughter. Her daughter
in this case was for no obvious reason reacting strongly towards her and
treating her very badly. The daughter it turned out had, had a
difficult trauma and resulting issues originating in past life
involving another person. As this other being was not at this
time willing to take responsibility for their part in this
trauma then her mother offered to hold the energy of this
being to remind the daughter of what she was here to deal with
and resolve.
Now, although
the daughters path has been crossed with appropriate and
effective means to deal with these areas, she chooses to take
a head in the sand approach and suppress her problems with
strong medicated drugs and psychiatric consultations. In the
mean time, something that should have been resolved a long
time ago continues to cause huge distress to the mother. For
this session we called in the daughters guides to discuss and
confirm this situation. This group of guides were very
frustrated, in fact they were at their wits end with regards
this situation.
They had a plan
- one plan, with no variations and no backup and none of them
had the experience or the confidence to try other approaches.
They were very happy to have people that could interact with
them and discuss various approaches that might lead to a
solution. As part of the work we took away the energy
reminder, as it was agreed that some part of the daughter
would be aware of the plan and the loss of this energy may be
another way to prompt some appropriate action from her.
So, here we have
guides ill equipped to handle a plan not being followed to the
letter. They had no back up options and no one in the team with
enough creativity or experience to try something different.
Again how many of you have the belief that everything is set
up here and that your guides will (no matter what) make it happen? This is another example of why it is important to ask for
beings openly (not named beings) to work with you who have the qualification
and experience to get the job done. Also note, as your guides
subscribe to certain belief systems then this may prevent them
for asking for help outside of their paradigms. When I started working
with spirit it was a spoken of and in fact non optional request
that one member of the current support team must be looking
for the new team to help with the next movement. During busy
transforming periods teams would often be changing daily to
keep up with what was required.
Working with a
client with fading eye sight. We found that this goes back to
some trauma in a higher existence where she had seen something
that she would have preferred not to. Not wanting to really
look at the original incident and resulting trauma has caused
her eyesight to fade away more and more.
When we started
working with her the feedback we were getting from her was
contradicting what we could feel was happening internally. It
turned out that she had assigned a guide shortly after the
original incident to seal off this trauma and information to
help her move on and survive (this guide could have been a
friend at that level the same as the nun in the first example
above). So, this guides job is to guard this seal and prevent
access at all costs forever.
So, when we
start pushing these areas the guides solution is too feed her
false information and feelings about what is going on and that
everything is all right, blah, blah, blah. Again this could
have gone on indefinitely. As a solution, we got her to talk
directly to her guides, to define what she wants (to resolve
this trauma and therefore to have the access to explore this
directly) and to rescind all previous instructions. Should any
guides not agree with this then thanks and all that but bye
bye, else change to honour new instructions. In her case
although the guide is still with her it has stepped back and
is now not interfering in her process.
Situations
change through time. We have come across and worked with many
similar examples. In situations where it was important to take
extreme measures to survive in the short term one must try and
think of the long term ramifications. Unfortunately we rarely
come across examples where this is done - none at all in fact. So, do you have an
awareness of how changing circumstances are effecting your
guides priorities if at all? Completely trusting that your guides are
always doing the best thing is an incredibly foolish position
to take. Find out yourself what you need to do and define it
now. If you have to ask for extreme measures to cope with
extreme situations then put either a time limit or better
still ask
that a guide prompt you to resolve the hidden area when
circumstances change.
Another client
came from a soul culture that is extremely
manipulative and self illusive. This person is also an energy
worker and gives a great presentation but has little content.
The problem here is that again like attract likes. She thinks
(and believes) that she is working with Ascended masters - we
did once too and we know their energy. Rather, her guides are
another set of manipulative beings taking advantage of her
self illusion to control her work to meet their own ends. In
this regard, they are making her very successful at resolving
physical challenges particularly with woman unable to have children. Success in this area means that they are now able to
incarnate into this reality something which they have wanted
to do for a long time but didn't have permission to do so (they
still don't).
Well, we can
only say that what goes round comes round. If you don't look at
your own issues, then they behave like open doors and blind
spots which then make you vulnerable in all sorts of ways with
unpredictable results.
This is another
area that we have not seen discussed anywhere? What rights do
you give your guides? What rights do they have? What are their
terms of employment with regards guiding you? Are they free to
leave? And who makes this decision? Lets give you an example:
We have
frequently come across well respected people working with
guides whose guides we can only say were working as slaves.
One healer we met had a team with her from a past life where
they served her (as a type of shaman). In this previous life they had been bonded to her in
various ways, through ritual and coercion (fear). Since then,
they continue because of these ties, trapped and unable to
leave to follow their own path.
We have come
across this type of situation enough times to be quite
shocked. We have found this particularly with human form
spirit guides working with readers or mediums doing psychic work
(lower level). Some of these readers are aware that their
guides have been with them for many lives and the reaction to
this is always along the lines of how wonderful this is "were
back working together again!!". Well if you believe that your
guides magically appear independently of you or that their is
some guidance employment centre that controls all assignments
and recalls then please think again. Yes there is some organisation
for some types of guides and for some people who have the
foresight to organise things before they arrive here. But most often
this is not the case. In these cases the relationship has
become an addiction as the reader or medium is now dependent
on this guide and so the contract is not reviewed but
continued on the assumption that this is meant to be. Often
the guide and medium will reverse positions so that the next
round the guide incarnates and medium is now the guide. This
is an example of energy addictions where they are trapped in
what can only be described as a cycle of spiritual illusion.
A guide is
another being and it has as much right to explore beyond its limits as you do and
as much right to be free to do this as you do. However many
people who are working with spirits have become through
inertia, misinformation and limiting beliefs glued to their guides
(as well as vice versa).
With both parties becoming equally stuck.
From our
experience people don't relate to their guides as real people
who also may need be cared for. When was the last time you
asked your guide what they wanted? What was best for them?
What do they require to evolve and grow? Too many people
connecting with spirits are arm chair readers, they think that
this awareness is all there is to it and that they don't have
any more responsibility than to ask or pray for what they want
- guidance, protection, love and light for themselves or
another and then their guide jumps to it. The prevailing
belief in many circles is that guides are supposed to be with
you all the time and do what you ask out of service. All of
this arises because people are not prepared to explore beyond
their limited beliefs directly or to even question the
validity of their beliefs.
There is a lot
said about raising awareness. But exactly what does that mean?
Most awareness raising within light and energy work is
concerned with people having better access to guides, past
lives, other worlds and a greater ability to scan
chakras, internal body processes, energy bodies and so on of
clients. However, contrary to what you may think all of this
type of awareness is about looking outside of yourself into
other realities and energy spaces. There is virtually no
emphasis on developing an awareness that encompasses inner
relationships. Either the relationship that you have with
yourself or an awareness of the basis of the relationships you
have with others. And here we mean "others" on all levels
including you guides, hence there is little information
covering these important areas and in fact little awareness
that these are THE important areas.
Don't make any
assumptions about spirit. Do your beliefs of them come from
direct experience unclouded by preconceptions and assumptions (read beliefs)
or have you read them somewhere and just accepted them as the
truth or worse been told them by your guides? Understand that
your reality will confirm any beliefs you subscribe to, you
cannot believe in something and then check it out as the
belief will most often confirm itself. It is also very
difficult to step aside enough to make a detached evaluation.
The more you
have of yourself, the more you stand in yourself, the less you
rely on beliefs. Conversely, the less you have of yourself the
more you cling to beliefs as they then define you rather than
you defining yourself.
Don't assume
that your guides have either the experience or the
qualifications to help you to go where you want to. This is
very rarely the case if you are pushing the boundaries and
moving yourself beyond limits into unknown areas. Unknown
areas for yourself means unknown areas for guides and friends
who are a representation of your old ideas and beliefs.
Do you know what
you want or are you just following what you are told you are
here for? If you don't drive your own movement then any being
can come along and easily recruit you to serve it's beliefs.
Unfortunately these beings are not the negative, manipulative,
dark side ones - these are easy to spot. Rather they are the
ones who are unconditionally sincere about what they believe, about what good they are
doing and about what they present to have you doing the same.
What they present can be very appealing to someone who does
not have much of themselves.
True trust is
trusting yourself. True courage is required to achieve this
level of trust. On the other hand it is for many much easier
to avoid this hard work and trust in others they can neither see
nor properly evaluate.

You have to take
responsibility for your path. You have to be clear about what
you want and define it and state it.
It is your
responsibility to take responsibility for your guides. If you
are letting them be responsible for you then you still have
some way to go before you will start to achieve some measure of self
empowerment.
Spend a lot of
time getting the foundations right. When we say a lot of time
this is exactly what we mean. 2-3 years of hard, focused,
dedication with you specifying every day what you want. When you do this and you
have convinced your reality that you are serious then it will
fully support you to make this movement in magical and
creative ways. It will still be very hard, but it wont kill
you (might get close at times though).
There is nothing
else but finding yourself, either you are digging for you,
clearing limiting issues, debilitating traumas and resolving
them or you are not if you are not then you wont get far as
you cannot fool yourself or hide what you cannot or wont look at
within yourself. Either you do it or you don't, if you don't
the only soul that loses out is your own.
At this time,
there is nothing but this - finding out who you are - letting
go of limits, letting go of beliefs, letting go of knowings,
letting go of models, letting go of conditioning, letting go
of guides, letting go of past friends and not just doing this as
a human or as a soul fragment but within ALL THAT YOU ARE everywhere.
Doing anything
else is a waste of both your time and the opportunities being
offered here. We would seriously recommend that you should be
making maximum use of both of these.
